2/24/2023 0 Comments James ferraro full discography![]() ![]() In stranger post-Techno terrain we find Inner City’s ‘Terrestriality’ and Russell Haswell’s latest noises on ‘ACID nO!se Synthesis’. The former is a stunning 4LP set comprising Arthur’s genius ’24/24′ sessions and a stack of lesser known cuts for the Sleeping Bag label in opulent fashion, while the latter finds Bill Brewster compile the cream of the Factory records dancefloor crop between 1980-87, packed with proper Manchester-meets-New York classics and rarities. Vintage dance music compendiums abound this week with a deluxe Arthur Russell boxset and Strut’s amazing ‘Factory Dance’ collection. It’s his most accessible album to date, but don’t let that fool you… One of the most important underground artists of this era offers his skewed yet HD-clear overview of virtual utopias and cultural clutter in immersive, psychedelic style. Made on an ARP Synthesizer, Tape and a Moog, these pieces really do feature some of the finest examples of formative electronic minimalism we’ve heard, at turns challenging and utterly beautiful, and all made with the barest components. Eliane Radigue’s compositions have a habit of doing that, and Senufo Editions’ reissue of her sublime 1972-73 pieces ‘Geelriandre/Arthesis’ has had us in raptures all week. Sometimes the most subtle music leaves the deepest impression. ![]()
